Unique to New Mexico

The pilgrimage to Chimayo takes place every year here in New Mexico. I am impressed by the faith of these pilgrims.

They make the long trek with thankfulness rather than "asking" or "praying for" something they want. A striking contrast to many in our society who think they have the ear of God and can influence what will be in the physical, personal, political world, solely by their prayers.

The world is so lacking in the virtues of thanksgiving and gratitude.

My Hubby at work

Hubby (just a very short time on camera - he's the ranger with the hat and back pack) at work in this very well done video. He is a part of the Recreation crew at Rio Puerco Field Office, so he does trail maintenance, patrolling, and lots of related duties.

(Rio Puerco Region at time: 5:50 in the video)

About More Adventures in Health Care

I removed the long post as I was concerned about repercussions from the Hospitals involved in the narrative. Here is just a brief post:

So we returned from a mostly (for me) sleepless vacation/trip to Arizona and California on Monday, March 11 after a grueling drive (I think anything over three hours is grueling)

and an absolutely agonizing Sunday night when I had uncontrollable shivers followed by full body aches. I'm not sure what caused this except perhaps dehydration or exhaustion from lack of sleep, but I felt better in the morning. Sleep was evasive.

But we were back in New Mexico on Monday afternoon for Leon to keep his appointment on Tuesday the 12th with the physician assistant who was to make sure Leon was fit for heart surgery/procedure on Thursday.

The scheduled procedure he had on Thursday, March 14th is called the Watchman. (see video).
Needless to say it is a bit scary having a foreign device inserted into one's heart. But the doctors are confident that this is the best course of action. It will prevent the need for life-long blood thinners and therefore reduce the possibility of blood clots.

After some very frustrating post-op issues all seems well now.

Phoenix

Hubby is here in Phoenix for a work conference with BLM recreation crew. I got to tag along. OMG the cars, the traffic, the madness. Why would anyone want to move here? My impression is Phoenix wants to be California, but without the coolness. Without the ocean  Without The Beach Boys. The rest is like New Mexico, but with these big, freaking cactuses poking up all over the place

And fancy restaurants
