We Have Winter -Mostly Photos

Just a few photos of our recent snow storm. Not quite New England, but pretty decent. Not much else to say here...

I've been working on a re-edit of my book for which I have recently re-acquired the complete rights. I am planning on re-publishing it, probably a PDF for free or perhaps installments here on the blog. Not sure at the moment. If anyone has suggestions, glad to entertain them.

I don't think I want to go the print/digital purchase route as that didn't work for me last time. I am not a self-promoter and print books require "marketing" for which I have no patience.

Anyhow...fighting with editing on Mac Pages is taking up my time as I try to stay off my feet due to a knee problem...osteoarthritis, lack of cartilage and a torn meniscus. The knee was the size of a small cantaloupe 10 weeks ago and is now just about back to "normal" but must be careful. I did go out to shovel snow...carefully.

Winter in the High Desert

Had a little snow last night. I often find the New Mexican high desert monotonous and drab. Endless Junipers, some living, some dead. And brown dusty and rocky earth. And weeds. And prickly pear and cholla cactus.

Winter snow sheds a new light on our backyard desert.

What We Woke Up To This Morning

Unexpected, but not devastating like the tornadoes ripping through the south. This is New Mexico "spring".  It was in the 70s just the other day!

Yesterday's Snow Will Be Tomorrow's Mud

How many times have I mentioned that one reason we moved to New Mexico was to get away from the snow in New England. Yesterday it found us.

We got hammered in our little village, but of course there was no snow at all in most of Albuquerque and friends in Santa Fe said they only had about an inch, most of which was gone by noon.

Our share was 6 to 8 inches and will be around for a while.

Then will come the MUD. I don't mind hiking with the dog in snow, but MUD here is another thing altogether. It's more like concrete, or should I say, more in keeping with the locale, adobe.

Another day for that, but for now we're enjoying the white stuff.

Not What We Bargained For

Another snow storm yesterday and it is 1º F this morning! It's warmer back in Connecticut! Spent a few hours digging out ourselves and our neighbors yesterday.

We're expecting to remain below freezing until Friday and perhaps more snow Monday and Tuesday.

Leon used to brag that the snow here would melt by the time he finished a cup of coffee...he's going  to be drinking lots of coffee, so we had better start brewing...
