Lately I've been thinking about a song that was popular in 1968, Those Were The Days My Friend by Mary Hopkin.
It was played over and over on the juke box in the student center at Loyola in Rome, Italy where I spent a lot of time writing letters and poetry, drinking cappuccino and eating cornetti.
In this slide show are several photos from my memoir plus many more previously unpublished photos. Some, about which I should probably be embarrassed.
But isn't that the whole point of nostalgia? To celebrate, not so much the past, but the fact that we were there, where ever that was. That we proudly occupied a space in time and in history.
I hope you enjoy it.
