I have only a little to give, and with food & energy expenses going up so fast, I sure don't want my contribution to be wasted or misdirected. I've already been poring over various charity sites. USA-UNHCR sounded pretty good - BUT - it seems they spend a third of their income paying for "fundraising," and their CEO gets $300K/yr. salary.
I'm also wary of sending money to overseas charities, where the laws and regulations might not be very strict - how would I know?
I've been looking at Charity Navigator (google it) and a blog called Paddock Post (https://paddockpost.com/2017/04/06/where-does-100-to-usa-for-unhcr-go/). I encourage others to do so before sending their money off.
I hate being in this quandary when so many people need so much - but what to do?
The silver lining of what's happening right now. Seeing the rest of the world unite and help out in anyway we can.
